The Taylor 114ce acoustic-electric guitar gives that rich sound we’ve come to love from Taylor, at a price anyone remotely serious about their playing can afford. This acoustic electric is a very classy number. Designed as an entry level guitar that maintains that Taylor sound, it provides the perfect companion for a passionate beginner, or as a nice touring addition for the seasoned professional. Whilst a few cheaper materials step in for the usual kind of quality woods and make-up we’ve come to expect from higher end Taylors, all the necessary components are around to play their part. It really is incredible how little that sensational Taylor sound is lost. Whilst a little more pricey than other entry-level priced acoustic electric guitars, like the Martin Dx1, you’ll know where that extra money has gone when you plug it in

The Stika Spruce (top) and Tropical American Mahogany (neck) are there being the wonderful tone woods they usually are, and with an Ebony fretboard and Indian Rosewood Headstock Overlay, the sound is truly magnificent…possibly the best in its price range. An ES-T under-saddle transducer ensures that the Taylor 114ce guitar will be heard. It really is just like a Taylor 314ce in its voice, volume and versatility.

The venetian Cutaway design makes for some very comfy handling as well as giving plenty of space for full and easy finger board access. The Taylor 114ce is a grand auditorium sized acoustic-electric guitar with a smooth shape that coupled with the Satin varnish finish, makes for one aesthetically pleasing guitar.

The cheapest place to get this already such good value guitar seems to be Guitar Center and zZsounds, in that order. zZsounds currently offer a free gagbag though too! Lots to think about! happy hunting and smooth strumming!

The Martin DX1 RAE is probably the best value acoustic-electric guitar on the market. This D-14 dreadnought body design and the high quality tone woods, provide a wonderfully wide, open sound, whilst chrome tuners, chrome hardware and a sexy satin finish make for one stunning guitar. The modified neck shape means your hand can move swiftly along its Richlite fretboard with the greatest of ease and agility.  The Sonicore pick-up has a Fisman Sonitone system with “easy access” controls placed conveniently just inside the sound hole. This technology combined with its big sound and great looks makes it an excellent stage guitar, All X series arrive stage ready to just plug in and play too!

Martin have not skimped on their high construction standards to bring you such a cheap pro standard guitar. Layers of wood have been bonded under extremely high pressure to create a strong neck that gives clear sustain and clarity to each and every note and progression. A mortoise and tennon neck joint makes for a solid connection that ensures a resounding tone. Martin have also used their patented high pressure laminate on this guitar.

Taylor 314ce Grand Auditorium Cutaway Acoustic-Electric Guitar Standard

The are 2 main benefits that hold the Taylor 314ce in higher esteem than other acoustic electric guitars. It has the classic open tone and bright, lively sound that we have come to expect from Taylor guitars and, more uniquely, it is unbelievably comfortable to play.

The sound is derived from the acoustic properties of the African mahogany and sitka spruce the body is made from – woods that combined with the pearl fretboard inlays, ebony bridge, chrome tuners and gloss topped satin finish, make for a stunning guitar.  The Grand Auditorium Cutaway design gives the sound volume and depth. This design also means that the guitar fits plushly on your knee and reduces play fatigue received from dreadnought or Jumbo designs. This combined with a fretboard and neck that are wonderfully easy to hold and smooth on the hand, make for a guitar that compliments the human body and is therefore very smooth to play. This does wonders for your playing, improving it remarkably.

This ease in play is furthered by strings that are perfectly spaced for both fingerstyle and flat-picking, giving you versatility.  The vibrations of these strings are captured by the Dynamic sensors in the advanced Expression Pickup System and give a much truer sound than piezo and magnetic pickups.

The testimonials about the Taylor 314ce are quite consistently praising but also suggest the sound has a certain level of specifity… One musician spoke of it the Taylor 314ce as having a more “modern, rock-ish sound with good treble cut…the Taylor sound works for me!”. Another says ”…this is a Taylor, known for bright and sparkly sounds rather than woody warmth. If you want a boomy bass and a very old-time woody sound, this guitar may not be a good match for you.” A third  says “…there were other Taylors, Takamines, Ovations, and Martins in the store, but after playing them all, I came back to the 314ce because I just loved the sound.”

The one thing you can be sure of when buying the Taylor 314ce, is that it is going to be just lovely to play. Most love the sound. ALL agree, however, that this guitar is just beautiful to hold. It allows its owner and musician to move around it with the greatest of ease to comfortably produce the sound he or she requires! Plus it comes with a very nice hardcase!
