The Gibson Hummingbird is a symbol of Gibson’s phenomenal commitment to craftsmenship of the highest quality and one of many originals designs from this eclectic company. Gibson are second to none when it comes to their building processes. Selecting the right wood and the right way to dry out are some of the most important of these. The top is made from Stika spruce and the back and sides from mahogany, chosen for their unrivalled acoustic properties. The fingerboard is made from very resilient rosewood and its mother of pearl inlays are inserted in a way that ensures no gaps without the need for fillers.
The ‘X’ shaped bracing in the Gibson Hummingbird is hand-scalloped and would normally only be found in instruments with limited runs.
